Inspiration And Location

Inspiration

Outline of Paranormal Activity 3:

In 1988 sisters Katie (Chloe Csengery) and Kristi (Jessica Tyler Brown) seem to be enjoying a normal, happy childhood at home. But when strange things start going bump in the night, their father, a wedding videographer, decides to use his cameras to discover the source, especially since Kristi appears to having conversations with an imaginary friend. While the cameras do indeed reveal a flurry of supernatural occurrences, the family is unprepared for the terror that awaits.

Director: Ariel Schulman and Henry Joost

I selected this film as my inspiration because I liked the idea of the film using live camera footages to present the film taking place in a reality event. I also enjoyed the use of the one light torch, as this is the idea that we used in our coursework piece to film the forest scene.

We also like the idea of a single torch, as it creates a segragation between light and darkness, but also to use the dark areas as a possible pop out scene.

Inspiration - Film Shots

Inspiration - Static Mode

Static mode is a good example that me and our team can use to jump scare the audience, when a scene cuts to another in the live footage video.

With using the static mode, we would also try to increase the volume of the static, as the purpose of it was to jump scare our target audience after they watch the dusk scene.

We would possibly find the static transition in our selected media editing called: Final Cut Pro.

Inspiration - Dead Body

This is an examplar photo I found from the internet of a dead body being placed on the soil in a dark woodlands.

The costume of this figure is casual, wearing a white t-shirt, trainers and jeans, showing a simplistic character laying down on the wet, rocky grass.

This is an idea of how we would present the dead protagonist in the ending of the live footage scene, where we would possibly add mud to convey the idea that the main protagonist (watching the video) is seeing his inescapable fate.

Location

Millfields Riverside Park is the location where we will film for the live footage scene, as we have found a location of the man made hut surrounded with trees and wet soil to film.

For the main protagonist (Dylan), we decided to film at his house because Dylan's house contains average house furniture and gadgets, such as an IMac, a speaker covered in graffiti, a wardrobe and a disk player, but we replaced the curtains with white bed sheets to block any lighting, to get the dark feeling of a concealed room. His house is next to the riverside of Millfields Park, which makes our selected location faster to film.

The image on the left is a snapshot of my messages, organizing my time of where and when I can meet my media group to take photos of our selected locations for our Horror genre. We took the photos on Sunday 10th January 2016. We use the photos we took to present them on our pitch, but here at the bottom page is the images I took after the pitch, where our location is at Lee Valley Park (near Millfields Park), Hackney.

The images I took are examples of what the marshes look like at daytime, without the dark atmosphere at night.

However, the bottom last images is an internet research of how the trees I went through would appear at night, as it inspire me on how it feels to be lost and alone in the winter woods at night, like our selected characters.
